Books You Oughta Read Before You Kick - Introduction
As a tribute to the popular reference text entitled 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die - edited by Peter Boxall, I have decided to create my own list of an indeterminate number of must read novels books to consume before either you or they expire. I specify "novels" because, for one, the original text does not, and secondly, novels are what I've read the most of in my 45 years of reading experience.
I'm loathe to limit this list to only books I've actually read, but how else could I make serious judgments for inclusion to such a serious sounding list. On the other hand, limiting my choices will force me to read more, and to read more of what I may expect to be worthy of this exclusive list; that's always a good thing. As you may be able to tell, I approach this endeavor with no grain of salt and I expect my readers to, though blandness may be a factor, digest it accordingly.
My choices will be added in no particular order, since I may read something superior tomorrow to what I've read yesterday. I will try to include as much information about the book and author as would befit a blog post, along with my typical (ahem) superlative critical commentary. I realize this is a daunting task to impose upon myself, but, hey, I'm up for the challenge.
So, if you are interested (and, seriously, how could you not be) look for Book Jones blog posts entitledNovels Books You Oughta Read Before You Kick or NYORBYK byorbyk. I'm looking forward to eating up most of my spare time to provide my loyal reader's with a quality body of blog posts you all can use as a bucket list of literary splendor. Happy Reading!
